The photo above shows the south side of Medina's Square in 1967. The CDC believed there could be vast improvements made to the way the Uptown area looked.

As a way demonstrating how the  future could appear, CDC artist Elmer Zarney created the rendering shown at right. The Mayor of Medina responded with the cleaning, repair and repainting of the historic 1878 Town Hall and Engine House under the supervision of the Community Design Committee.

Today, the results of the CDC's vision are plain to see, not only in the Engine House but in all the grand buildings of our historic Square which CDC helped to restore.

CDC continues to offer local property owners and businesses free consulting services and renederings of how their properties could look with the proper care and renovation.
Other CDC activities include collecting historic photographs, oral histories and information for public research; initiating and directing community preservation and beautification projects; creating educational programs, displays, slide presentations and printed information, including a Walking Tour brochure of the Historic District.
